The Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre is organising a professional development day for teachers. Experts and teachers will share their thoughts and experiences about teaching the Holocaust and other genocides.
Teaching the Holocaust and Other Genocides: Opportunities, challenges and successes

- Professional developement day for teachers and educators.
Although any historical phenomenon is unique, it is sometimes necessary, for a better understanding, to use comparison with other similar phenomena. This helps to identify patterns, similarities or differences and promotes general learning. That being said, how can we ensure that the uniqueness and complexity of an event is maintained along with the search for universal principles?
Comparing the Holocaust with other genocides: theoretical and educational issues

- What are teachers already doing in their classroom?, What are these successful practices? What are the expectations of teachers from this approach?, What are the responses from students?
