Holocaust Education Series - Press Conference

Montreal, October 15, 2009 - The Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre invites journalists to a Press Conference on Wednesday October 21st et 11:00 am at the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre (5151, ch. de la Côte-Ste-Catherine). François Bugingo, spokesperson, and members of the Holocaust Education Series committee, will present the programming for 10 days of events.
The Holocaust Education Series (October 21th - November 1st)
Offering 10 days of films, conferences, and discussions, the Series focuses on issues of human rights and serves to develop understanding on how citizens can better live together in respect of diversity.
- 14 workshops to provide teaching tools to educators
- 6 testimonies to learn from the past
- 2 discussions to promote action and reach forward
- 3 lectures to learn and be sensitized
- 4 films to discover life stories
The Series reaches out to Montrealers where they are:
- In bars, cafés, Cégeps, & churches : Survivor testimonies so that we can become witnesses.
- In cinemas, schools, theatres and bookstores : life stories and stories of involvement and action.
- In universities, Cégeps & at the museum : activities and discussions to increase awareness.
A journalist for Radio-Canada, François Bugingo is founder and president of Reporters without Borders Canada and Vice-president of Reporters without Borders International, an organization which defends freedom of expression and human rights.

The Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre educates people of all ages and backgrounds about the Holocaust, while sensitizing the public to the universal perils of antisemitism, racism, hate and indifference.
