Montréal, November 17th, 2009 - The Institute for Canadian Citizenship announces the expansion of its Cultural Access Pass program to galleries and museums in Montréal. Starting Nov.18, new citizens will be eligible for free admission to Pointe-à-Callière, musée d'archéologie et d'histoire de Montréal, Le musée commémoratif de l'Holocauste à Montréal, Musée McCord d'Histoire Canadienne, and Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal for a full year from the date they are sworn in as Canadians.
A presentation and offer of the Cultural Access Pass will be made to the new citizens being sworn in at citizenship ceremonies on Nov.18 at the Hellenic Community of Montréal (5757 Wilderton Avenue) in Outremont at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. For further information on the Cultural Access Pass, visit www.culturalaccesspass.ca.
"We are absolutely delighted to be working with these first four Montreal museums and galleries toward giving new citizens the opportunity to become familiar with the cultural institutions in their communities," said Institute for Canadian Citizenship CEO Curtis Barlow. "By welcoming new citizens, these institutions help develop in them a true sense of connection and belonging to the communities in which they choose to live and work."
The Institute for Canadian Citizenship is working in partnership with the Canadian Museums Association on the national expansion of the Cultural Access Pass. The Institute for Canadian Citizenship is a national, non-profit organization founded and co-chaired by the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson and John Ralston Saul dedicated to engaging Canadians about citizenship.
In taking part in the Cultural Access Pass program, the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre pursues its mission of educating people of all ages and backgrounds about the Holocaust while sensitizing the public to the universal perils of anti-Semitism, racism, hate and indifference.
