The Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre has developed pedagogical activities to help students reflect on the consequences of racism, to better understand history and to appreciate diversity in society.
Activities in class before your Museum visit

The Hana's Suitcase educational project was created as a tool to be used to reflect on the Holocaust and issues of tolerance and social harmony.
With your students, you will explore the suitcase and the life of young Hana who was murdered in Auschwitz in 1944.

The following are the activities available at the Museum:
Guided Tour

A guided tour provides direct contact with historical documents and testimonies of survivors of the Holocaust, and promotes new insight into what has been learned in class.

Survivor Testimony

History is not simply a collection of events and dates. It is the story of human beings. A testimony adds the human dimension of the millions of victims. It puts students in personal contact with an incomprehensible part of history.

| Cost: $95 to reserve a conference room. The testimony itself is free, a donation to the Centre is appreciated. |

Activities in Class After Your Museum Visit
| The Heart from Auschwitz |
Elementary 3rd Cycle |
Your students will review their museum visit and reflect on the Heart from Auschwitz, made for a young woman on her birthday at enormous risk to those involved. The students will learn about the Heart and how it was made.

In turn, they will construct a heart in which they will write their resolutions for living in harmony in the future.
